Matt Gwaltney Field at Thomas Dale High School<

Matt Gwaltney graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 2001.  He was a pitcher for the varsity baseball team as well as a sports reporter for the "Knightly News."  Matt went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2005.  Just a few weeks away from receiving his Master's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Matt was killed during the 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech.

The Chesterfield County School Board recently approved the naming of the baseball field at Thomas Dale High School in memory of Matt.  The field renovation with a new electronic scoreboard and sign are being funded through private contributions.  The goal is to begin renovation this fall so that the field is ready for dedication at the beginning of baseball season in 2014.  You are invited to join us in this tribute to Matt.
