The Chesterfield Education Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2018 Bravo! Awards, recognizing outstanding professional and community achievements of Chesterfield County Public Schools’ alumni. During the past nine years, recipients have ranged from professional athletes, musicians, and doctors to entrepreneurs and business leaders who have made an exceptional impact on their professions and community. On Thursday, November 8, 2018, a gala dinner will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel to honor this year’s recipients.
Recipients to be honored at the 2018 Bravo! Awards are:
Co-Anchor Good Morning Richmond, WRIC-TV 8News
Manchester High School, Class of 1989
Morgan Dean co-anchors Good Morning Richmond for WRIC 8News Mondays through Fridays. He previously anchored the local ABC affiliate’s Good Morning Richmond Weekend Edition and reported for WRIC at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. Dean has been with Channel 8 since 1993. On top of covering stories where you live, he has also served as an entertainment reporter and film critic during his time with 8News.
Christina Rodi Hager
Senior Market Originator, Dominion Energy
James River High School, Class of 2002
Christina Hager’s interests in science and technology started at a young age through her involvement in FIRST Robotics in Chesterfield County. In addition to her work at Dominion Energy, Hager is also vice president of I4STEM, a nonprofit that she founded to encourage young people to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Owner and CEO, Haley Auto Group
Midlothian High School, Class of 1975
Doug Pridgen is the owner and chief executive officers of the Haley Auto Group. Through Pridgen’s leadership, the Haley Auto Group has become a community leader in both charitable contributions in Central Virginia and volunteerism through their employee “give back” program. Prior to his employment with Haley, Pridgen was a CPA with Dalton Pennell and Company.
LTC Niel Smith
Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army
Monacan High School, Class of 1993
Lieutenant Colonel Niel Smith currently serves as the Commander of 6th Squadron, 9th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, 3d Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. LTC Smith has received numerous awards and decorations and is published extensively on counterinsurgency issues.
Vincent Ellis White
Program Manager, Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia
Meadowbrook High School, Class of 1998
Vincent White serves as the program manager in the community workforce department at the Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, where he oversees both the Richmond and the Hampton Roads areas. He is a best-selling author and highly regarded speaker. White states that everything that he is involved in revolves around community building and creating social change.
